Simple ways to get the most from drinking water …

1 Drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses (about 1.9 liters) of water every day. Drink water with every meal, between each meal, and before, during, and after exercising.


2 Don't wait until you're thirsty to drink water. By the time you feel thirsty you have already lost two or more cups of your total body water and are probably slightly dehydrated.


3 Don't substitute caffeinated coffees, teas, or sodas for water. They actually deplete your body of fluids rather than replenishing them.

4 Start and end the day with water. The main change in your body weight overnight is the amount of water in your system. Your body loses water while you're asleep.
